Arbitration: Confidence Well-Founded or to be Regained?
- February 2nd 2011, 6 pm
- John Beechey, Chairman, ICC International Court of Arbitration, Paris
Mr. Beechey took up office as Chairman of the International Court of Arbitration on 1 January 2009. Mr. Beechey has many years of experience as both arbitrator and counsel in institutional and ad hoc arbitration proceedings. He became a Partner in Clifford Chance LLP in 1983, and was responsible for the development of that firm’s international arbitration practice. Prior to his appointment to the Chairmanship of the Court, he had longstanding connections with the ICC, as a member of ICC UK’s Arbitration Group, a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and a Council member of the ICC Institute of World Business Law. He is also a former member of the Board and Executive Committee of the American Arbitration Association. He has served, too, as a Vice-President of the Court of the LCIA and as a Director of the LCIA. The ICC is the world‘s oldest and most prestigious institution for arbitration.
Furthermore participants of this year's Moot Courts will be present. Team members of the Willem C. Vis Moot as well as the ICC Moot are going to introduce themselves and their work. You can learn about the current Vis Moot case while the members report on the problem they are working on and get first hand information about participation in a Moot Court.
After the lecture you have the opportunity to discuss the topic with the lecturer and the audience.
